Health and Safety Manager

Nene Group plc is a property Investment company, and has an associated company, Nene Storage Equipment Limited.

Nene Storage Equipment Limited is one of the largest distributors and installers of industrial racking products and supplies to both logistics and warehousing operators across the UK and Europe.

The companies are currently looking to recruit a Health and Safety Manager to work within their head office/factory based near Daventry, Northamptonshire. The business manages property, operates a warehouse and factory for fabrication, and manages the installation and maintenance of racking solutions for blue chip clients. Additional responsibilities sit within the business for construction management and the monitoring and inspection regimes for installers on hundreds of sites across the UK.

Reporting to the directors, you will be responsible for leading the Health and Safety compliance across the group. You will ensure the business complies with all relevant legislations, internal policies and auditing standards (with options to develop ISO 45001 & ISO 14001)

Full Time, permanent role – Deadline 31st March 2021

The Role:

  • Execute a robust HSE strategy for the business: ensure that this strategy and all related initiatives are adequately communicated to all lines of reporting to ensure it can be delivered in a collaborative manner
  • Ensure that the company complies with all relevant legislations, auditing standards and internal group standards
  • Ensuring that the H&S Management Operating Systems are accurately maintained and managed
  • Manage the execution of all key HSE activities, in particular: office, warehouse, factory, installation, COVID Secure workplace, contractor management and statutory inspections
  • Driving behavioural and cultural change on site, to develop a culture where acting safely and being environmentally responsible are not afterthoughts but a way of life. This includes:
    • Mentoring site personnel to improve their knowledge of HSE matters and their skills in managing key aspects of the HSMS

Candidate Skills/Criteria:

  • Extensive experience as HSE Manager in privately owned companies
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health with ideally no less than GradIOSH status
  • Functional HSE skills and awareness of property health and safety management requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK HSE regulatory framework, including specific frameworks applicable to warehousing and construction
  • Suitable knowledge of ISO45001 & ISO14001 auditing standards
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of Contractor approvals
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to successfully communicate at all levels of the organisation, from senior leadership team to factory floor staff and installers, on both vision and practical aspects of health and safety

Ideal candidates must have previous experience within the office, factory and construction environment. This position would ideally suit someone with a track record of developing harmonious teams through strong people management.
