Driving Change from Within
In 2022, we established our first internal Environmental Committee. This team plays a crucial role in identifying improvement opportunities, gathering emissions data, shaping our environmental goals, and raising awareness throughout our organisation.
We also hold multiple SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) accreditations. These independent audits have helped us reflect on our impact, refine our policies, and benchmark ourselves against evolving industry standards.
Solar Power at Head Office
In September, we completed the installation of 134 solar panels at our Northamptonshire headquarters. This renewable energy source significantly reduces our carbon footprint and supports our long-term goal of energy independence.
With advances in solar technology and the rising cost of traditional fuel, solar power is now one of the most attractive and cost-effective solutions available. It’s a win for the planet and for our long-term operational efficiency.
Electric Vehicles and Charging Infrastructure
As a national business, many of our team are regularly on the road meeting clients and supporting live projects. While we value face-to-face service, we also recognise the need to reduce emissions wherever possible.
Since 2019, we’ve been transitioning our fleet away from fossil fuels. Today, 15 electric vehicles are active within the company, supported by 10 Rolec EV charging points installed at our head office. This move significantly reduces the environmental cost of travel while ensuring we remain responsive to client needs.
Promoting a Circular Economy
Sustainability isn’t just about energy. It’s about using resources wisely. That’s why we’ve long supported a circular approach to warehouse storage. Through our asset management service, we help clients extend the lifespan of their equipment by relocating and recycling racking across their estates.
We also provide rack hire services for customers with temporary or seasonal storage needs. Sourced from accredited stock, used racking delivers the same performance and flexibility as new – without the environmental or financial burden of buying new.
Paperless Processes and Digital Innovation
All Nene installation projects, safety inspections, design surveys and audits are now completely paper-free. Our engineers use smart devices and custom software to input data, track progress and dispatch updates in real time.
This approach has streamlined our operations and eliminated unnecessary paper waste. We’ve also adopted the latest in racking inspection technology through our partner Econform, whose digital tools further reduce waste and improve compliance visibility across sites.

Looking Ahead
Our sustainability efforts have already earned recognition from the National Building & Construction Awards and the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards, but we know the journey doesn’t stop here. Our environmental committee meets monthly to review our impact and drive progress towards our ultimate goal – achieving net zero carbon emissions.
