The Challenge
One of the UK’s fastest-growing builders’ merchants tasked Nene Warehouse Solutions with finding a better way to store large volumes of timber at their branch, which specialises in timber products. At the time, all stock was stored directly on the ground across the yard, creating operational delays and disrupting service during goods-in. The goal was to reduce loading times and keep the yard clear, enabling quicker customer service and a more efficient delivery process.
The Solution
Nene designed and installed a cantilever racking system to store timber horizontally and off the ground, transforming the operational flow of the yard. The system, supplied in a bolted format rather than welded, provides lower long-term maintenance costs and simplifies future repairs, as only individual components need replacing when damaged. After receiving initial plans from the client, Nene completed a full site survey to confirm the design would function as intended on site. A works schedule was developed around the client’s needs, and the full system was delivered and installed within six weeks from order.
