Nene turn IKEA Peterborough DC around in time for Christmas

Nene have worked several times with IKEA providing a variety of storage solutions and warehouse services. When the Nene management team were approached with an urgent job for the Peterborough DC, Nene were able to spring into action to deliver what they needed to prepare for the Christmas rush.

The Peterborough DC required an immediate dismantle and rebuild for their new small items conveyor belt system. In the distribution centre there were 3 back-to-back aisles and 88 double deep bays standing at 9m high, all complete with steel profile decks to dismantle and then rebuild and re-install onto existing aisles.

In order to be able to create this with no disruption to the site’s day-to-day operations and productivity, Nene provided a highly detailed and precise programme of works; ensuring health, safety and compliance standards were met and exceeded, and an excellence in the quality of work, despite the short turnaround time.

IKEA gave 3 weeks to complete the dismantle, re-fit and new system installation from inception to completion, with which Nene took 12 days to do so. This allowed IKEA the additional time to be able to stock and prepare their new installation and small items process for the Christmas period.
