In todays safety concious environment, nowhere is safety thought to be such an important factor as in the warehouse & distribution workplace.

In recent years, member organisations have been set up to provide guidance for both warehouse owners and operators by knowledgable people from within the Storage Equipment Industry working to strict Government guidelines.  The principle organisation within this industry is SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association), and they have produced guidelines that Nene Storage Equipment Ltd is keen to follow in the interest of maintaining a safe warehouse environment for all of it's clients.

To that end, the Nene Group encourages regular Rack Inspection Surveys to be carried out daily/weekly by it's clients workforce and for independent surveys to be carried out bi-annually or annually by one of our own trained surveyors.

From the experience gained by Survey Inspectors, we believe that "prevention is much better than cure" and to encourage all our clients to consider the fitting of the latest Upright Protection Guards to their racking as a positive aid to reducing damage done to the racking by forklifts.

It is not just the individual racking end frame that needs protection. Often Nene would specify a solid End Of Aisle Barrier as heavy duty protection for the racking, especially in a busy warehouse where forklift traffic is heavy.

The latest Wire Mesh Decking has been a major safety improvement for clients allowing them to store different types & sizes of pallet on their racking in a safe and proper manner. In fact the product has been so successful in reducing the chances of a rack collapse due to pallet failiure that many companies have opted to specify the mesh decking as a standard fitting to all of their racking.

Safety in the warehouse also involves us ensuring that pedestrian traffic (people) walking in the warehouse are secure and that a form of segregation between elevated pallets & walkways exists. To cover this requirement Nene offers a superb Net Protection System at a very realistic cost that gives many other added benefits to the warehouse installation. This system also offers excellent security around mezzanine secondary floor areas.

The Health & Safety At Work Act 1974 states that the ends of all racking are to be clearly marked with Load Capacity Signs and any structural specifications relative to its loading capabilities. Therefore all racking supplied by Nene will come with a site specific Load Capacity Signage plate. As a service, Nene is able to supply these capacity plates to customers who still do not have them fitted to their racking, or who have revised their racking system by movement of the system or beam reconfiguration and need to update the loading plates.

Whatever the situation, Nene will be able to give both advice and supply products that ensure that your warehouse facility remains a safe place for your operatives to work in.
