The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 introduced new laws at ending the discrimination that many disabled people face. The act gave disabled people new rights of access to goods, facilities and services, as well as in employment and buying or renting property.
From October 2004 businesses and organisations have had to make reasonable adjustments to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access, in addition to providing extra help, auxiliary aids or making changes to the way they provide their services.
